I have a 2007 170" wheelbase with long body. There were three body lengths in 07--standard, long and extra long. My bed is 19 inches wide to accomodate three skids. You won't build much of a "sleeper" in that space.

According to the info I have on hand currently,
a Sprinter's interior length states: 121" or 161" or 177".
So as bigger is always better in C/V Expediting... take
177"-156"(4'x3=12', plus 12" extra) = 21"
So it might look like 21" is all that is left for a
"fixed type sleeper"...
Basing this all this on a "standard 4x4 skid size with just a bit extra.
Refer to the other thread "Sprinter Sleepers" for some flexible suggestions others are using. Comfort costs space and space costs money, how much can you afford to have or lose?

Just saying...

I've found 48 x 48 is not so common as much...those 48x 45's are very common...turned sideways would give you 9 inches more....close to 30 in bunk now...
48x40s are more common as well....again sideways is 10 feet...

I am thinking of shrinking to 126 inches long myself...

one of the advantages to the high roof of most sprinters is the ability to be able to stack alot of multiple skids not all but alot of them and i certainly wouldnt lose the comfort of a bigger sleeping are for the times you will get 3 skids that couldnt be stacked...just my 2 cents worth 4 what it is worth ok a pennies worth then

I can understand the math of 48x45 or 48x40, how often does the shipper turn the skid for you to accommodate you?.

Well you do run into some skids that are not 4 ways...and that is a bummer...sometimes and I say sometimes, a shipper in a good mood will place that skid on an empty 4 way...and bingo..
