OK I thought the Mexican trucking companies were going to be on a 1 year probation and many other rules before permanent authority would be issued. Well guess what read this article. Many of you that are blowing this off better wake up because tell you what it is going to get serious in your finances if they flood us.

I asked at chevron refinery which BTW is a twic location They hold my hand since my twic isnt in yet LOL. But they were told any mexican trucks from mexico delivering materials is to be escorted on and off no twic ever or fast or nothing INSANITY I SAY !!!

So they aren't going to bother doing proper drug testing and don't get punished? If only we could've seen this crooked program for what it is before, I thought they would be fully compliant. Please send all complaints to LaHood, we will just need to get a current address after he gets his new house that he buys with the bribery proceeds.

You know you guys are funny. Get a grip on reality - please.

Lahood has little to do with this, complain to those who made the treaty in the first place and those who are running for office for your congressional seat.

I don't need a twic card to enter a refinery, I get escorted too. So?

Hate to tell you this but a lot of Mexicans are running up this way and have been for a long time. They run under a US authority with Mexican/US registered trucks. I was behind one last week sitting on the bridge waiting to enter customs. This program allows them to run without the authority and the dual licensing issue.

By the way, no one stabbed anyone in the back. The OOIDA needs to actually start picking their fights a bit better and write things a bit better than using things from the teamsters. I have not heard back from the OOIDA about an issue that was brought up on another forum - they have yet to have someone go to Mexico to investigate the way things are done but using sources that are questionable. I asked them about this four times and still no answer.

Like you think the Mexican drivers should be

You/ me/ mexicans Don't need a TWIC card.....the only reason for one is IF you go on the property UNESCORTED....

if one does not have a TWIC you will have to be escorted....

From Governement website

The Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) is a vital security measure that will ensure individuals who pose a threat do not gain unescorted access to secure areas of the nation's maritime transportation system.

TWIC was established by Congress through the Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) and is administered by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and U.S. Coast Guard. TWICs are tamper-resistant biometric credentials issued to workers who require unescorted access to secure areas of ports, vessels, outer continental shelf facilities and all credentialed merchant mariners. Over 1 million workers including longshoremen, truckers, port employees and others are required to obtain a TWIC.

Ya know somthing, It all goes back to California the Pickers and other states such as Texas. Look to these states and some others. Now look at the people in them states.
Now you get the Picture. Nothing will ever change till the people stand together and make it Happen. Just like trucking. Columbia truckers struck down there and they got what they wanted but they all stuck together. Here not one trucker would band together as a team for a just cause for the voice of reason to be herd. Nope wont happen. In any case untill We stand together nothing will change. The old saying United We Stand Divided we Fall! Think about it.

I'd rather the jobs go to Mexico then Asia...I look at the big picture..the Continent.. whether they assembly cars here , Canada or Mexico is kinda immaterial.. the parts are worth more then the whole...we have to drop all excise and tariffs COMPLETELY between the 3 nations...NAFTA is a joke, because as long as there are customs brokers there is no free trade among us...

I don't see much in the way of Canada or Mexico offering to drop their tariffs but it is usually being ask of the US to drop theirs.

It still amazes me with some who think that it is all about manufacturing, or assembly, when they don't get how the business cycles work, how we have been in a global economy for more than a century and why the Euro exists.

Many think that jobs can be created at old levels by bringing back manufacturing but in fact if we want to create jobs, it has to start with being more than just a place close to consumers and that all has to do with our dollar and our tax system. Strong dollar coupled with a really simple tax system that allows people to move money back here.

As for this issue, I can't actually feel sorry for this industry because there are far more important things that we face and this is the least of any worries.

Agreed
#1 Issue....the invasion of illegals.....

I don't know about people being illegal but invasion yes. Every country has the same problem, Mexico and Canada too. Even the Swiss and Italy deal with their invasion (Africans and Eastern Europeans) but they can do it a bit harsher than we do while they do criticize us for it.

No matter how you want to look at the economic situation, there is a lot more to the picture than tariffs, exporting jobs and so on. I looked at the four places I visited in the last few week, Toyota, Mercedes, Chrysler and one of their suppliers and I am thinking just maybe it is more to do with management of labor coupled with the cost of labor that does a company like Chrysler in. They still think as if this was 1990 or something, to put it in trucker's terms it is like having someone today drive a 1939 Mack because that was all he knows. This is one really odd thing we here seem not to get is the idea that it doesn't take 232 people to build a car but it can be done with less than 25. The same goes for electronics, do you think that a Chinese building Nav units has twenty people on the line doing the same job?
