| Truck has 385000 highway miles. Never had a issue or check engine light until about 1 month ago. P2002 appears, performed forced regen with Hino dXII, back pressure drops to good level, soot level on dash drops from 3 bars to 0. P2002 reappears next day with derate. Recommend to customer to drop DPF for cleaning. When we dropped the DPF, it was face plugged with soot with crud around the outer perimeter of DPF. DPF shop cleaned & passed restriction test. Looks very good after clean & bake. Reinstall DPF, clear all codes, reset all flags, run another forced regen. Released truck to customer. P2002 returns the next day. Used dxII again to clear all fault codes. But this time, I remember to "reset" all stored system protection data. Customer reports back all is good with full power. Fast forward 3 weeks to today, customer reports check engine light on, "DPR check" on center dash display & derate. Will see the truck again & check exhaust brake adjustments for injection quantity amounts. Maybe needs a new DPF? Any additional thoughts or suggestions? Many thanks in advance. |
