I know both of you are into amateur radio, and I've got a couple of questions.

Does a 10 meter radio allow you to transmit and receive on the regular CB channels or is it a separate animal??

What type of antenna(s) is needed for 10 meter?

Which FCC license is needed for 10 meter?

Thanx,

You may not use a 10 meter radio on the cb channels legally because they must be FCC type accepted and there are none. They can be made to do so but would be illegal and subject to a $10,000 fine by the FCC. A 10m radio can have something as simple as what's called a Hamstick and is a fancy whip style antenna to as complicated as beams or quads. You need a general class license to get much out of 10m. You can use a tiny window of it with a technician license plus passing morse code but if you are going to do that you might as well do general and code and then have privileges on all the bands. Look at this page and near the bottom you can download a chart that shows the bands and privileges. http://www.arrl.org/FandES/field/regulations/bands.html I hope that helps some.
