As a nation, we spend about one-third of our federal budget to maintain a military to keep us safe from foreign threats. Domestic threats cost us many billions as we have layer upon layer of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies working 24/7 to prevent terrorists from striking us in our homes.

What do we get for the enormous expenditure? Americans get to live in relative peace unavailable in many parts of the world.


Other than the sneak attacks of Sept 11th(2001), Americans have been fortunate not to endure scenes like those displayed in the following video. The exact context of the video cannot be authenticated. Supposedly, it depicts an infant being pulled from rubble in the ongoing civil war between Syrian rebels and the Syrian government. Let's hope this video wasn't staged for propaganda purposes. It certainly looks genuine and I accept it as such unless and until it is disproven.
