Depends on what you mean by "hard of hearing". I don't hear very well, but don't require a hearing aid yet. I consider it a blessing as I don't have all that extra noise to listen to! I had an external speaker for my CB close to my best ear. As an advantage, if you say "Excuse me, but I don't hear very well" often gets an otherwise mumbling dock worker to speak clearly and give better directions as to which dock to use and any special instructions that they may not bother to tell you. (well, that and wear a Harley shirt!)
