I have had the generator in a box on the back door then on a tray in the front and now on a tray in the rear. So far it is working out. Takes a couple more minutes to load and unload but not too bad.
The hook on the left is to cinch everything up to avoid vibration and rattle. The just added hitch plate is to increase stability.
I would like to keep the hitch plate and tray attached when the tray is swung out but the arc of the swing prevents the 2" tube from pulling out. I had considered replacing the 2" tube with a skinny one quarter " horizontal tab. The hitch pin is vertical and goes through the bumper for easier removal.
Hope this helps others and someone may come up something better.
