If you don't use the Internet much I discovered a way you can get free access, and you don't even need a laptop. Public libraries have computers for people to use. Go to a library, tell them you're passing through town and ask if you can get on the Internet. Most will let you even though you don't live there, and you don't need a library card. I did this for 2 months when my normal access wasn't working, and only one library said no. They give you 30 minutes to 2 hours of use.
