Found this under my van; anyone know what it is? I wonder if it's a piece of emissions equipment.

2009 Ford E250, 4.6 engine. Item is in the spare tire area.

Here's a guy that shouldn't be doing any of his own maintenance! Lmao

Question: Where are the brakes for my 1987 Ford Econoline 150 van located?
Answer: At the wheels behind the tires

Looks something like an ECM. Aluminum body molded for heat distribution. Awfully far back to be anything like a tranny module.

Maybe a control unit for the ABS? Now I gotta know! I'm coming up on an oil change soon, I'll ask the folks at the Ford dealer when I do that.

you'll find that is part of the evap purge system on your gas tank it recycles the creates a vacuum in the fuel system and burns excess vapor in the motor :D

also known as a charcoal canister in the olden days should also contain an evap purge valve!

Yes and if you ever have any codes that point to the evap system that is what you want to look at. My 2002 Ford van had a p0455 code and one of the hose clamps was broken on that canister, replaced the clamp and it was good to go.

I have the same box under my 2 e-350's. One is located under the driver side door on the 96'.
On the 98' it's on the passenger side. I have no idea what the box does. Always wondered and now I know! Whooo Hooooo!
