Very few employees in expediting.
Mostly independent contractors.
You go to work for a fleet that treats you like an employee, sometimes, but they tell you you're independent to shift the tax burden on you.
Bottom line: no company paid benefits. You pay both halves of the Social Security ( about an 8% penalty). No workmans comp or unemployment. You buy anything else you need.
Sometimes you'll get a bigger piece of the pie by agreeing to more expenses/risks.
It works well for most on here.
If you work hard, have average intelligence, and luck, you can make a living.
Most that do well move on to ownership. Same deal. Bigger risks, bigger profits.

A good, hard working driver at Fedex, in a reefer straight will make right at $50,000 +/-
Run with your better half and be right at $95,000-$105,000
These are common numbers for 22' straight, reefer.
Three teams I know hitting these numbers have 3 or 4 years experiance.

Where do you Expect these numbers will go with the flat rate?
Is that gross or net?
O/O or driving for fleet owner?

Those are people driving for good fleet owners in reefers.
These are gross numbers. The driver's cut.
The flat rate is not affecting reefers..
As I'm in a reefer I haven't looked at flat rate.
A quick guess is a little less than 10% loss in the pay. This may be made up by more opportunities, less down time.
As a driver, maybe ok. The more miles for less money will impact owners more.
