I've heard it's good to take an old fashion aspirin at first signs of distress.

I've heard it's good to take an old fashion aspirin at first signs of distress.

A baby aspirin, 81mg, chewable.

However, like any good internet medical advice, especially from a non-physician, this comes with a disclaimer:

NEVER JUST MEDICATE YOURSELF WITHOUT ASKING YOUR DOCTOR FIRST!!

Never play around. My late husband thought he had heartburn too once. He was wrong.

Glad you're ok...I had some chest pain, went to play softball anyway, got several hits and ran hard, had more chest pains, took the bus home, took several aspirins and finally drove myself to the ER and barely made it in time. 100% blockage, put a stent in and all ok after a week in a bad hospital, except that due to waiting too long I have scar tissue and low extraction rate which meant an ICD was placed and now no commercial driving for me. That was almost 7 years ago, but the moral of the story is don't wait if you think you MAY have a problem....better to go in with heartburn or gas than not go in and find out too late it's serious.

I had a "baseline" stress last week. My DR ordered it I was not having any problems. She has all her patients have one when they reach my age. She says it often catches unknown problems and gives her a baseline to go by latter it problems do develop.
