I thought this article gave good perspective on the US-Canadian relationship with the recent US elections.....

That was an excellent article, Lawrence. Most Canadians, including my inlaws, don't give a rat's behind about how credible a candidate is in our country, they just want someone more liberal. Well, little do they know that since we've had a Republic president in office, their money has gotten more powerful. That may not be Bush's fault, but the repression's; but if things are going on the right path, you don't want to change horses. They loved Clinton... go figure. They treated him like a rock star when he signed his book "My Lies" in Toronto. They blame us for a chunk of their woes like mad cow screwing up the beef trade. Last time I heard, there had to be two sides for diplomacy to work. Try blaming that Clinton wannabe rat Chretien. He alone destroyed the working relationship between our two countries. Tony Blair commited political suicide by sticking with us through the terrorist thing, but they're still our best ally. Chretien had nothing to lose... he was getting out of office anyways. Shame on you and your Clintonesque legacy.

Chretien RE: Bush wins - Hooray for Canada!

Jean Chretien was a throw back to Pierre Trudeau.
I believe that Pierre Trudeau ruined Canada.
The weakened US$ is wrecking Canada's manufacturing sector.
I'll not make any other comments on US-Canada political relations.

T-Hawk,

I agree 100%. Canada needs a leader like Mackenzie King. A true Canadian Patriot.

This guy would have been all over Sadaam:

"It is what we prevent, rather than what we do that counts most in Government." -- Mackenzie King, August 26, 1936

Lawrence, did you see Bush's speech in Halifax the other day? He was bold enough to quote Mackenzie King. Even the stick-in-the-muds on The National gave him kudos. He and Martin have come a long way in repairing the damage Chretien caused. I still wonder why Canada has a negative view of America to the tune of 62%. Their media has been taking lessons from the doom-and-gloomers at ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN, so that's a big part of it. Canadians believe that if they lay low they won't incur the wrath of the terrorists. Sorry, with inaction I see the CN tower crashing down. :-(

Well, for one thing the only US news Canadians see is what you listed - Fox News has been banned in Canada.

Oh...ho ho ho ho!!!!!!!!!
ROFLMAO
McKenzie King wouldn't be able to stand for election today.
He was a spiritualist....he communed with his dead mother before making any decsions. He never made a decison today that couldn't be defered till tomorrow.

Mr Martin has made it a goal of his Prime Ministership to improve relations with the United States Government. M.Chretien enjoyed tweaking the noses of those who opposed him.
I am glad that PM is working on improving things between our two countries.

Don't mistake what is written by the Toronto Star or broadcast on the CBC as Canadian opinion. Our "Chattering Classes" either ignore or aren't even aware of the close relations ordinary Canadians have with ordinary Americans.

And Lawrence, the last I heard was that the CRTC hadn't made a decision on Fox. It isn't banned by any means; but they are trying to put it on wider spread cable. Most Canadians receive their TV on cable; on various tiers (packages). Fox is trying to get on a wider tier to increase viewership.

The Canadian Perspective.

RE: Fox..who needs it?

It's a heck of a lot more than most Americans see about Canada.
I get
ABC
CBS
NBC
CNN
CNN - Headline News
CNBC
TBS from Atlanta
WGN from Chicago
an Independant from New York (I forget the station, but I watch the traffic reports....crazy!!)
WUTV (Fox)Buffalo
PBS - Buffalo and Seattle
Seattle (two stations)
Boston
Los Angeles

How many more American TV stations do I need?
I don't get
ESPN
but I get three Canadian all sports channels.....
all sorts of specialty channels
Halifax
Montreal (2 French and one English)
Toronto & Hamilton (at least 8 channels there)
Winnipeg
Edmonton
Calgary
and a couple from
Vancouver

and more often than not I can't find anything to watch.

How many Canadian stations do you get?

Seahawks??????
Never heard of them....ARRRRGOOOOOSSSSS (this is the Canadian Forum)

Actually it is a deal from Rogers, my cable and high speed internet provider. I think it's called timeshifting or something.
I get tons of channels but I don't think the Seahawks are on the Seattle station. There is a woman on there that calls herself the "Queen of The Soaps" - sounds like a mis-spent adulthood to me.
Have a good weekend.

Rob,

I stand corrected. I thought I would raise the blood of every blue-blooded Canadian.:7
