This weekend, 40,000 people are flying to Austin, Texas for an annual technology and entertainment conference called South by Southwest, or SXSW for short. It began in 1987, and has continued to grow in size every year. This year the Music Festival part of it will last from March 11-16 (largest music event of its kind in the world, with more than 2200 performers from all over the world, some famous - some not so famous, in more than 100 venues, including concert halls, schools and churches), the Film Festival part from March 7-15 (films showcasing new directors, and conversations with directors, actors and producers), and the Interactive part from March 7-11 (800 sessions focusing on emerging technologies, trade show, speakers, parties, with keynote speakers ranging from Neil Degrass-Tyson to Chelsea Clinton to Adam Savage. It's crazy). Among other notable speakers is NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, who will be speaking live via Russia.
One part of the sessions is for foodies, not to mention all the food that will be generally showcased all over town. And this is the reason for this post. A French pastry chef by the name of Dominique Ansel (inventor of the incredible Cronut®)who has the Dominique Ansel Bakery in Manhattan) has invented maybe the best desert ever. And he will be bringing it to SXSW this weekend.
It's called the Chocolate Chip Cookie Milk Shot. OMG
