    Chicago Tolls

What Chris said. They definitely get the picture of your license plate, as do all toll booths throughout the country. When I started in this business, being from Tennessee, I was aware that I would encounter tolls in the north but had no idea of the extent of the scam or what EZ passes were...

    Please Explain Difference for me

Thanks Rocketman. It was a great play on words. I'm going back in service on Monday and I've been concerned about what I'm going to encounter. Pre-holiday last year was outstanding for me, as I guess it was for everyone. This year was much different. I guess I'm maybe a little too concerned else...

    Please Explain Difference for me

I thought you left out the "a" before broker. So are you saying that after a year my carrier becomes my broker. If so, how does that change the relationship between myself and the carrier. Many questions.

    Please Explain Difference for me

Hey Xiggi. I have been contracted to a carrier for over a year now. Does that mean I am a broker, and if so, what does that mean regarding how I may operate. I thought a broker was an entity separate from a carrier and only "brokered" loads to those who choose to operate under their own authority.

    the art of repositioning

Lol. Not at the present. I'm a prime example of those of us who are looking for an easy way to get the information they need and are susceptible to the fine art of writing copy designed to appeal to the American consumer. And I'm a boob. Get em off guard and when they're in a hurry and you've...

    Securing a honda generator

It appears that I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get a Honda generator. It will be a 2000 or 3000. Will you guys provide some tips on how to secure the generator when it is running outside the vehicle so I won't wake up in the morning as a hapless former Honda generator owner? I've got a...

    Shore Power?

Morning all. I'm starting Tuesday and wonder about finding shore power on the road. I and am sure everyone else will need shore power occasionally. Do you guys know of places where a humble fellow can hook up to recharge a battery, etc. Thanks.

    Has anybody seen this van?

Yep. I went to a cat scale and got a ticket. Weight includes the upfit, a xantrex inverter, tv, microwave, refrigerator, marine battery, full tank of gas, and me. I actually had it weighed twice. I asked the folks I bought it from to take it to a scale and have it weighed before I went to look...

    Has anybody seen this van?

Thanks guys. I bought the van after excruciating and prolonged contemplation after having it checked out at both a dodge dealer and a mercedes shop. It's got some miles on it but after the meticulous inspection by the mercedes guy I felt I knew what I had and hopefully I can deal with it. It is...

    Has anybody seen this van?

Has anybody seen, owned, or know who owned this 2004 Freightliner van. Reason I ask, I'm flying out to see this van this morning and it is so uniqely upfitted, if any body has they would know it. It was purchased in Illinois and that is where it has ended up. If anybody knows, please leave a...

    How about a shotgun?

lol. I guess my statement ""I'm not comfortable on the road without being armed" scared everybody. You guys must think I'm a maniac. I just simply subscribe to the adage "Better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it. Don't wory guys. If I'm fortunate enough to meet some...

    How about a shotgun?

I'm not comfortable on the road without being armed. Lots of good responses to Thom75's post about pistols. How about a shotgun. Would that fall into the same category as a pistol. Not much chance of it being concealed; as a matter of fact, it would probably be better to keep it in plain view...

    Short or Extended Sprinter?

Thanks so much for the responses guys. Something I hadn't considered was the weight of the upfit. The private response addressing that was very detailed - I appreciate it as well as ebsprintin's note. As an aside, one of the clear benefits I see in this business is the obvious quality and caring...

    Short or Extended Sprinter?

Hello all. I'm just getting into the business and am working on buying a Sprinter. I have a hire commitment from a reputable company, and they recommend an extended sprinter. In researching the kind posts and responses from the past, I can't really determine which is the better length, although...
