Cost for running a straight truck

I agree with these two fine members. Drive for a fleet owner first. Learn the business and watch how much it costs to run the truck. After a period of time, decide what you want to do. There is no quick answer to your actual question. In expedite, one week you eat steak, next week you're on...

    Freightliner m2 accelerator

Try setting the cruise control at 60. Use the throttle to accelerate to 65 leaving the cruise on. Then release the throttle. See if the cruise will catch and maintain the 60 mph set speed. Also, when the throttle drops out is the cruise control switch on? Not set, just on.

    What in the colors....

Ever since that guy in TX told him it was an ugly truck, Mike has been acting funny. Shadow should probably worry. Sent from my MB860 using EO Forums

Getting in to expediting. Please help with truck info.

The DT530 is not a class 8 engine. I had the exact same truck and it only lasted 275k. Expensive to maintain, issues it's entire life. Last issue, oil in the coolant, was never resolved. International dealer had it for two months and washed their hands of it and told me never bring it back...

    At 7:39 this morning

I agree with your decision given the situation you guys were in. The $800 I mentioned was the one I replaced right after Christmas. Reman TC cost was $350. The rest was labor. Sent from my MB860 using EO Forums

    At 7:39 this morning

The trans from a dealer is usually new. The Jasper and Silverstar are remans. The weak link in sprinter trannys is the torque converter. Debris from the converter plugs the filter and the computer goes into limp in and the engine will flare. The tranny case is completely sealed and can be...

    rims of sprinter van

All that's available on the old body style are the stock rims. I would try a salvage yard before I bought them from a dealer. Even the sprinters they converted into rv's have various styles of wheel covers over the stock rims. I think they offered the alloys as an option on the new body...

    What is it?

Cheri, Have a better place for you to take the truck. It's where I take all of mine now. 5 miles from the yard. PM me if you want the name and address.

    What is it?

Joe, It has a crank sensor and a camshaft sensor. One of them reads rpm. The ECM has to "see" that the engine is turning before it will fire the injectors. It could be your starter as well. Next time you go to start it, turn one of your cab lights on. If the light really dims while...

    Dang Gum It!!

I'm going to have to find out if we're related. I thought I was the only one with luck like this!! Alternator replaced, failed 3 days later. Not reman, new. Starter replaced, failed 4 days later. It was a reman, but shop claimed they had never had one fail before. Repairs done in different...

    Chef Dennis's New CargoMax

Chef, in answer to your question, not as much as I expected. Averaged out at about 1 to 1 1/2 mpg. It seems that the slant of the sprinter nose and windshield carries the air over the a/c unit and hits the generator case at about the center. The nose of the case is slanted as well and...

    Sprinter Roof Seam Leak

I use the silicone because it flexes better than the roof chalk and doesn't crack or shrink.

    Sprinter Roof Seam Leak

Have had seams open in several spots over the years. It appears to be a common fault on the 2006's. The spot welds weren't strong enough to handle the body flex. Or so I was told by a body shop. Get a tube of clear silicone, clean the spot real well and fill the seam with the silicone. It...

    Chef Dennis's New CargoMax

That would explain it. There was no mention of Carter and the guys at the Expo acted like they owned everything. I imagine that fact got back to Carter and they pulled the plug.

    Chef Dennis's New CargoMax

Look forward to seeing the modifications. I can't tell from the pic how big the logo signs are, but they appear to be the same ones that are on the Sprinters. You're right!!! I told him that I hadn't been hit by too many rubber mallets, and would be more worried about gouges in the...

    Truck ride

Sally probably doesn't have a air ride cab. Most class 7 trucks don't. The box is on air bags though. Most class 8 trucks are equipped with air ride cabs giving you a smoother ride. If the tires are "hopping" it would be a good idea to have the shocks checked. Holding the tires on the...

    Chef Dennis's New CargoMax

Looks nice. I remember seeing these at the Expo. Two years ago I think. Also have to add my $.02 on the location of the fridge and microwave. I see a visit from an Ohio State Trooper in your future.
