    Moving to straight truck?

Thinking of moving to straight trucks. How's the market for those? Know of any fleet owners with good equipment?

    Freight and rates, geez

Hate going to Virginia Beach, don't see how anyone can live down there. Odd thing, they must be Monty Python fans; I pass Witchduck road, and I start running through dialogue in my head, and I hear the guy say, "She turned me into a newt! ... I got better." Next exit was Newton Rd. So they...

There's gotta be a better way

it can take 3 skids if you take your bed apart. I'm trying to find a way to haul more skids while having a permanent bed. That means adding width, 2 across, at least 2 deep plus room for a bed. Yes, hence the dilemma. I'm trying to come up with a light weight box for a cut-away that's at least...

Boss wants me to buy a Sprinter

Specifically, one of his. I told him I wanted to sign on a van, and I was going to ask him if he'll sign on a cube van, rates, policies, etc. Didn't get a chance to ask any of it. He sent me info on the several Sprinters he has sitting idle. Told him I'm planning on getting a Transit, and he's...

There's gotta be a better way

Unbelievable. Only made at 10,360 GVWR. No other design.

There's gotta be a better way

...to haul more pallets (not weight) in a small vehicle. This is a shot from a review of of class A van-life like RV. I don't know if the weight could be kept around 6500 curb weight. But imagine ordering one that's essentially gutted. Everything behind the driver compartment is gutted. You put...

    Shakespeare all the lawyers

That was the context in Shakespeare?

    Shakespeare all the lawyers

Coming down I-65 from Chicago, there are a few billboards of the sue-a-trucker variety, except they say "Delivery truck accident?" with a picture of a Sprinter. Lawyers ruin everything.

    Conundrum

Conundrum, the product of driving for too many hours. You're a doctor, general practice. You're stranded on a desert island with somewhere between 10-100 people. You fortunately have for a med kit that Spicoli would call "a radical set of tools" and a bottle of whiskey. The med kit has...

    Opinions on this cutaway

I'm still playing with the options on the website. No way I'd select something over 10K.

    Opinions on this cutaway

I've had a few loads lately that meant I had to tear down my bed, move all my belongings up front, and sleep in the passenger seat. I'm trying to put an end to that while retaining capacity. So what about a Ford Transit cutaway like this, pallets 2-across, I'd guess a total of 4. I'd still...

    Going west

With my current company, I haven't been west of Lenexa, KS. Well, technically, Fort Worth is a little farther west, but I mean west-west. Not sure if that's a company thing or if my owner has it set up that way. I'm thinking of going west when I get my own van on the road. I know things have...

    Front seat, weight, etc.

Continuing talks with the guy I'm thinking of contracting to do the modifications. He says: Removing the front seat would void the warranty due to what it would do to the air bag and create liability for him so he won't do that. Anybody ever order a Transit with no front seat? Can it come from...

    Generators, high-end vs. Knock off

I'm resigned to getting a generator on a swing arm. I'm not crazy about the noise, the added weight, the maintenance, the possibility of theft, adding length to the van, etc. but maybe that's really the best solution, combined with a roof top AC. I see the Hondasare $1200+ and some knock offs...

    AC off batteries

I heard from the guy again yesterday, and he again said that with 4 lithiums, I could run rooftop AC.

    We've been had

I've called places while on the road and they all say appointments are stacked 3 weeks out, no matter how minor your issue

    We've been had

I spent all day yesterday at the Sprinter shop with the owner who has a personality like the Soup Nazi. I'm told I have an appointment so I go in first thing, and he rudely tells me I don't. In addition, he opens at 9, and I was there a little before, but he and his crew arrive a little after 9...

    Fuel capacity

Somebody's telling me the 4 cylinder diesel Sprinter holds 25 gallons of diesel, insists that's the case. But when my fuel light comes on, I can only pump about 19 gallons in. Anybody have one that can confirm?
