    Reefers and Explosives

Time Out! I really think everyone needs to take a look at the link provided by pelicn which really gets to the point. What IS a cargo heater?? A few years back when my wife and I were driving a big truck (18 wheeler) we hauled a load or two that used a cargo heater which was a portable...

    Lift Axle????

Jones Truck and Spring Repair, Inc in Columbus, Ohio installed a lift axle for us. They do a lot of them as they put them on their own trucks ( a fleet of sand and gravel trucks). They had many units in stock and I would not be surprised if they might have some used equipment. They later...

    2 million mile truck

Our truck is a 2000 Freightliner Century Class with a Cat C-10 original engine and Eaton Fuller ten speed auto-shift. The present mileage is 1, 151,006. :D:D:D

    Axle weight

The truck origianally had a landing gear and I was able to retain it (there was enough room) and I do use it most of the time. It does make the truck much more stable when driving a fork lift into it. In reality, I could probably get by without one but it is a better setup having it, I think...

    Axle weight

When I purchased my truck which is a Century Class Freightliner, it was a single drive axle truck with reefer and APU and 22 ft. box and lift gate. The truck was much too heavy to be able to carry loads much larger than 5,000 lbs. (By the way, a lesson for newbies you need to know how much your...

    Parts for Pro Heat

UPDATE I was able to order parts from a Kubota dealer near our home. Had to wait until the next time in to pick up the parts but finally did get them and was able to make the repair. It is working great. Really did miss that APU. Good to have it back. Thanks for replies and messages. :)

    Parts for Pro Heat

The water pump on our Pro Heat is bad and I am contemplating replacing it myself. Can anyone out there tell me where I might order one online and have it shipped to my home? I probably will not fix it until I am at my house. In the meantime, we certainly miss that little generator. I should...

    another dumb question

Just a couple of comments on the some of the posts in this thread. First, I think the term "white glove" although probably originated by Fedex is sometime being used as that type of load even when being contracted to some other company. Last week my wife and I did a "white glove" load (it said...

Need help with lights on Supreme Box

Well, I have 'em working now. Since the box is a reefer box, the wires inside the box are not exposed. They are covered by the insulation and then all corners are trimmed inside with aluminum. What I ended up doing was to tap in to the wire on the bottom of the box, go across to the right...

    Just checking my signature

Funny the things you can get accomplished on a slow day. Thought I would work on my signature. Testing....testing... testing..... :):)

Need help with lights on Supreme Box

Thanks, Dave for the reply. I can see where the wire goes into the box (bottom corner, driver's side front). I assume it splits somewhere inside, just cannot tell where. Will continue to work on it or call Supreme as per your suggestion. Thanks.

    What time is it....really?

    What time is it....really?

In the expediting business we often get our days and nights mixed up .... but unless I am reading it incorrectly, the times given on the most recent posts on the forum indicate that they were posted this afternoon (today at 3:15 pm, for example) Right now, I am in the central time zone and it...

Need help with lights on Supreme Box

My wife and I run a D unit with 22 ft. reefer. The box is built by Supreme and is a 2000. The lights on top of the box on the passenger side all went out at the same time. I am thinking there is one common wire that supplies power there but do not know what route the wire takes. The box is...

    Landstar Express America

My wife and I also run a D Unit which is reefer equipped for Landstar. While we do not use it (temp control) as much as we would like there are many times when we have been in an area with several empty trucks and we get the load because it requires temp control. The same can be said for...

Any Expediters Affected by California Fires?

I started this reply earlier but hit the wrong button so will apologize in advance if this info gets posted twice... We delivered last Monday, the 22nd in Irvine. Some smoke going in on the night before. After our delivery, we headed toward the Hesperia area but got a call for a load that...

    Beep Beep

A couple of months ago while heading north on the NJ Turnpike, I was in the second lane from the right and moving with traffic. There was a whole string of traffic in front of me. An 18 wheeler was behind me and LAID on his train horns for me to move out of his way. I did not budge. Don't know...

    Aux Generator Questions

Our generator is an older Pro-Heat. It has two fuel filters, one is an inline filter and the other is a small canister type. More than once when it has symptoms as you describe (cutting out then running again) it has been solved by replacing the fuel filters. If yours has a similar setup it...

    mileage

Recently I was talking to someone about this subject and I told him this about the big truck diesel engines: They are designed to go a million miles or more. When you compare this to a car engine, for instance, when a car gets above one hundred thousand miles that is getting up there but...
