Newbie Advice For 1st Time Driving Position?

Try places like Pilot Freight, Seko, GP Express, Forward Air and others like them. They do local hot shot and air freight stuff. Its NOT expedited, but it IS experience...thats what I'm doing until the wife is ready to join me in a sprinter on the open road.

Am I in the right place?

For local work, depending on what you'll be hauling an E-250 or 2500 (GM) standard length will keep you pretty busy. I run local in Denver, with a few regional runs. (last week was a bear) Pretty easy to get on with courier companies. Biggest concern is having the right insurance coverage for...

Any GM van lock out tips?

With my 2012, it will not lock with the key in the ignition. Period, end of story. I even tried to lock it manually and it won't.....that being said..... I keep a spare hidden on the frame, ALWAYS. I also check weekly to make sure its still there. I also have a habit of making sure I have...

Wonder how many trucks were lost to "Carb" rules Jan 1st?

gee, sounds to me like someone could make good money running a warehouse/transfer yard on the CA border..... I for one hate new rules, especially when they apply them to older trucks. I can understand the "knee jerk" reaction to global warming and pollution, but I honestly think they are...

STAY IN SERVICE FOR Christmas and & New Years ???

I'm not "in service" but I am on call....I'm always on call. I work hourly, the last 2 weeks I've worked over 130 hours. (and yes, I've had a couple days off too....) been long days, hard hours, and LOTS of runs. (local hot shot stuff remember) To be honest, I fully expected Monday to be a...

Best way to run local/regional with a Cargo Van

Check with your local freight forwarders......Pilot, Seko, Ceva, etc. I think Pilot has an office in Charlotte, or close. This time of year they need help! Craigslist is your friend, as mentioned above.

    Be Aware! I70West Indiana

Noticed that yesterday around Colorado as well. Limon on eastbound (westbound down for const) and both north and south on I25 in Fort Collins.....they also had the portables out all over. Be safe, sounds like the DOT is after some of your hard earned money!

    Share your space saving ideas

Haven't seen it said..... Small flat lure boxes from wally world or BPS for screws, fuses, extra bulbs (most will fit in them) and small tools. They can also be used to store small items like ear buds, medication/vitamins/supplements, and other tiny easy to lose items. They're relatively...

An open question to owners of unmarked van companies.

Mines a 2012 Express with no windows, no lettering, and I've put 50k on her since June. No issues with anyone, owners, managers or LEO. So I don't know about the window thing......I mean I guess I could see the issue, but I haven't had one. I don't like not having rear windows though...

    Sharing the mess.....

I wanted to share the mess I drove through yesterday with everyone. Wolf Creek Pass on US160 in SW Colorado, if you haven't driven it, you need to. Its beautiful when it wants to be, and its iconic....they even wrote a song about it! This was the view from my seat yesterday (11/9) at around 3pm...

The Future of Expediting; Yes or No?

I see alot of these running hot shot stuff around Denver too, its really sad. They're killing my hours, and taking my loads. Honestly though, its not the poor saps driving them that should be ashamed, its the jerks at the forwarders that should be.....they KNOW they're shipping freight at...

Nissan NV HD S HighTop V6 fuel mileage

I ran the 2500 HD high top from Denver to Cut Bank MT, averaged about 15.5 or so, bone stock with 900+lbs in the rear. Didn't have any of the normal stuff with me, no tools, bedding etc. I did have about 40 lbs of gear along though, (cooler/ice/drinks/food). I ran 75 the whole way across...

    2005 Sprinter starting problem

Sounds more like a switch than a battery.....can probably get a replacement switch for cheap if you can find a used one.

    2005 Sprinter starting problem

It sounds like you have a finger on it, but you also might want to check the ignition switch. (it sounds too simple to be the fix but it DOES happen) I know I start and stop my van more than a few times a day, and its possible to wear out the contacts in the switch. If the battery doesn't do...
