"The best way to to protect yourself from an accident is to avoid one"...sound familiar? It makes simple sense, and we've all heard it before. As professional drivers, you know better than anyone how crazy it can be out there.

Bad drivers, poor roads, construction challenges and weather conditions can make avoiding an accident even more difficult.

The relationship between the Motor Carrier and the Owner Operator as an "Independent Contractor" is the standard in the Expediting Industry. There are very few "Employee Drivers" in Expediting. The Great Recession has been a period with calls of desperation from many Owner Operators.

I received some emails this week that weren’t insurance related....which was fun. Folks noticed my new logo and wanted to know what happened to my CIS Beano Guy cartoon. Well, after much deliberation...I’ve determined it’s time to retire the Beano Guy. (Actually after much razzing from Sean Masters with Expediters Online!)

Hi Everyone, Let’s explore the number one question we get everyday; how can I spend less on my insurance? The answers can vary but there are a few points that can be useful to all Expediters.
We’ll deal with "leased on" owner operators first.

A common question that comes up when we explain that your "insurance credit score" comes into play on all insurance now. The first response from everyone is, "What’s my credit got to do with it?"
The reality is, our credit rating is directly involved in so many parts of our lives.

Hi Everyone, here's a call I get at least once a week....

"Hey Shelly, How come I only saved $1,100 a year on my insurance when you saved my buddy Stan over $2,300?”

Wow what a loaded question, how do I answer this without getting between friends and stay out of hot water on the legal front. That darn privacy law stuff...
