    Start-up costs

    Concerning starting with a new cargo van. Are the plywood, e-track, screws, etc required to get a van ready to expedite considered tax deductable expenses, or are they part of the cost of the van which will be expensed out using the mileage method? Thanks. :+ :+

    If a O/O takes per diem and mileage depreciation, what are the common expenses that can and cannot be deducted? There is food, fuel, tolls, repairs, tires, accessories for the truck, and many other items. Could someone make a list of some common items? Thanks. :+ :+

    Mileage

    I recently spoke with a van O/O. He said he didn't save gas receipts because he used "mileage" as an expense. I understand you can use mileage for depreciation, but I'm not sure what he is talking about using mileage as an operating expense. Can you enlighten me more? Thanks. :+ :+

    Let's assume I have ten thousand dollars and I want to buy a cargo van. Let's assume my wife owes ten grand on her car with a $300 a month payment. Would I be better off paying off her car and have a zero payment, or putting the ten biggies as a down payment on the van. I would have ten...

    Frank, I understand the per diem is a tax deduction that can be used when compiling your tax return. Exactly what does it cover? Does one still save meal receipts, shower expense, etc? Thanks.:+ :+
