    another newbie, another day

Great advice. If you worked it right, you can figure out a pattern where you do not stay any farther than 500 miles from home at any given time. With a newborn, you will probably need to stay within striking distance of home. Do NOT start out with a sprinter. Are you prepared for a 2k shop...

    A newbie inquires

Just wanted to add.... Imagine sitting in a cargo can for 3 days straight without a load. ( it will happen) Now imagine sitting in a sprinter for 3 days without a load.... They both suck. Seriously consider your options.

    A newbie inquires

I went from driving a straight for almost a year... To being a o/o in a sprinter. You can learn a lot from my mistakes. Driving a straight= made a killing & then some. Being an o/o in a sprinter= being poor. I'm not kidding. One can only live in a sprinter or cargo van for...

    California driver need good company

We drove a str8 out of Vegas, often times we would stay very busy.... We preferred to just stay west during the winter. You need to be a team to make that happen though. We made great money. Now for a Van ... Don't even think about it. Unless your okay making $100 a week profit.

    Researching in NC

I live out west, and have done better than a few of east coast guys. I think it's just your work ethic, determination, and passion for this industry that determines your success... And a bit of luck. -Ryan

Update after six month's....and ready to take a leap?

Hi EO Land- A big Happy New Year to everyone out there. Looking back on 2013, it has been a year for me, started doing this in June 2013, and looking back at it I have to say Holy S*IT. 48 states later....here we are. Being in my late 20's, I have challenged myself with...

Our first month out with Fed Ex

Just a quick update. After the last post, we had a great week. And then....we mistakenly choose a load that deadheaded to San Francisco from St. George Utah for $1.40 (w/ FSC) and dropped in El Paso. Load from hell since it was double dispatched from the beginning. The other driver said he has...

Our first month out with Fed Ex

$700 ticket is correct. It is such bull. I understand everything. I'm going to try and pull the "loading and unloading" excuse....There are many many fedex vehicles around my neighborhood everyday...those huge tractor trailer moving companies...you name it. There is a park nearby and everyone...

Our first month out with Fed Ex

Thanks everyone for all the well-wishes and the words of support. We are getting a good hang of things and hopefully will be able to be O/O ourselves here in the next 6-12 months. It really helps being a small business owner myself and managing my own real estate here in Las Vegas. Gives me a...

Our first month out with Fed Ex

Hello Expeditor's- We have posted here in the past seeking answers to questions, finding out information, lurking around on here. We finally took the plunge about 30 days ago and attended orientation with the Fed. We decided against going with Expeditor Services for a few personal reasons...

So what is better right now for solo?

@BigCat- Your location says West Plains, MO? I'v got some friends out there...nice area. Love to come visit. Were signing on with Fed EX CC as a team in a few weeks. Hope to make it out to that neck of the woods. -Ryan

So what is better right now for solo?

If going Solo van's are the way to go. Personally I feel that a van would be to cramped, and if I'm living out of something for 4-5 weeks, then it needs to be bigger than a van. We are getting our B CDL and will be teaming up in a Straight for the Fed. I'm just a newbie, but I have been...

    Newbie Introduction & Seeking Advice

The passenger End...for any that ask, is my back-up plan. Since I do live in Vegas, if I fail at Expediting at least I can come back to Vegas and shuttle Tourists around....there's always an abundance of those! -Ryan

    Newbie Introduction & Seeking Advice

TruckingSurv- It's Southwest Truck Driver Training. You need your B, regardless what you train on. They have a campus in Phoenix as well as Vegas. (good excuse for a vacation) They train you on a passenger tour bus. You need a Passenger End. I went to the DMV and got my permit for all this...

    Newbie Introduction & Seeking Advice

This is just as a second income for me, but my fiance is a bit concerned about it. Oh well, either way, its the experience that is priceless. We are expecting nothing, but are wishing for the best of course. We hope to make it through Las Vegas at least once a month, and for the Oregon guy I'm...

    Newbie Introduction & Seeking Advice

The $$ was what I researched and what Expeditor Services told me. I know those figures seem a bit high, more towards the 800-1K range is more acceptable per each driver at least for newbies. That's at least what were wishing for. Just work hard, take loads when offered, and always hit your...
