    Dealerships to watchout for

When you say "most of our dealings", are you saying you bought this used truck sight unseen? If so, and you didn't even look it over enough to see how bad the tires were, then shame on you. Expensive lesson learned.

    Where to go?

I totally agree with Moot! If they told you you there's nothing within 400 of Chicago, they're telling you they have no freight. I can't see any reason for you to stay another day. If you put a carrier list on a dart board and throw a dart, you're probably going to do better.

My son's name is Jacob and he had a shirt made up with State Farm and Jake on it. It didn't arrive in time for the party he was going to wear it to... To the OP, as you continue your research you'll probably find discussions about what van drivers make. I suspect that you'll find it to be tough...

    Newb seeks guidance...

Bill's right, the first part of the year is tough, and it's toughest for vans due to the glut of them in the industry. Stick with what you're doing until at least the end of March.

    Need Advise

I agree that this is probably the best option you have. Putting a driver in it is just a potential for headaches that will make the situation worse. I just can't see the miracle you are hoping to find. Really, would pay more for something than it's worth?

For a guy with a female body part on his shoulder, Rocket comes up with some very spot-on opinions. I couldn't agree more, one week on and one off just wouldn't be practical in this business. If you had your own authority and had local customers to work with, you may be able to make something...

    Opinions Please

That's a good number, and I can sometimes hit that on some loads. But, it's just not a number I can get at the end of the year looking at overall numbers. Some of that is my personal situation, living in a poor freight area. I spend some money to go home and get back to the freight. I'll stick...

    Opinions Please

If you're getting shorter runs, you'll generally be running a higher number of loads, giving you more opportunity to have empty miles.
