Im an O/O with a 22Ft Str8 truck. You are making 40K with no expenses or headache and home, stay at Amazon. IMO. Money in this industry is crazy. I came off my most gross month in 3yrs., only to follow by the next month being my worse gross in 5yrs. You never know out here.
I know your a lot of main carriers will not take 26K with home made sleepers. But you can find them around especially in Chicago (lol) you will have to call some Mom & Pop company to see if they welcome 26K. You should possibly drive for someone for 6 months. This is not a job/career this is a...
No log, no scale, no HOS, you will need a DOT number because you are charging a fee, interstate commerce, flaw is possibly insurance IDK what you need to carry for vans, you can always cancel insurance anytime.
I do some patchwork. Get it to VA where GreasyShirt takes care of my trunk. I have gone over 400 miles DH just to get it there. Thank God my Hino has been good to me.
You can do an LLC if you want. Don’t know what you own but you don’t really need one. School tuition and licensing fees are tax deductible. If you are signing in we FedEx you will have to purchase insurance either thru them or on your own. Are you guys CDL A or B?
Any operational items for the...
You guy as a team have a lot of options not just in expediting. Some better companies are giving husband and wife teams a lot of stuff that fleet owners do not offer. Remember expediting is not a job/career, it’s a lifestyle. Don’t get me wrong. I love it. I just took off a whole month. Went...
You can look on this site for “Drivers Wanted” or you can call PTL, they advertise on this site. You can try Expediter Services not sure if they do solo or not, they advertise on here also.
If she has not driven in 10 years, she mite not be able to drive with you as a beginner. Need to find out from the carriers you guys are looking at. Next you should drive for someone for 6 months before you sign a lease for a new/newer truck. You can try a fleet owner on this site or Expediter...
You better triple that saved money with a sprinter. I drive a Str8 but the guys say that the industry is over saturated with sprinters. I’m sure someone will chime in about sprinters.
You would want a D truck, because you can take a sprinter load or a C load. When I was with Fed-ex cc over 5 years ago, the reefer and hazmat was good. But that was a long time ago. I only used my lift gate a hand full of times nothing crazy and if you are a single axle it takes up some weight...
I’m driving for PTL, Premium Transportation and Logistic out of Toledo, OH. Never had a problem getting paid every week. They majority of the company is solo drivers.
I would say weight the truck and you (and your stuff) and full the fuel tanks. Then whatever your gross weight is minus that and that’s what you can carry. I would leave some wiggly room.
I do go around the I-65 toll into and out of Louisville if it’s not during rush hour.
I do take 20 but only half way out of Cleveland heading West.
Chicago just pay them unless it’s the wee hours on the morning, that place is always a mess.
