NEWBIE ALERT~What Happens to your load when Sick or Truck Breaks Down?

FIRST thing to do is call dispatch (no brainer), they should take control and let you know what they want done. I got sick one time just outside of Detroit. Had just loaded, headed to S.c. for a next day drop, left the shipper and had gone about 50 miles into the run. Had some cardiac problems...

    single drivers

If you have deep enough pockets and own your own truck you can do anything you want to. I can't see it working in expediting. Unless you have those magical 'bottomless pockets'. Expediting is like the wind, you chase it and go where it takes you. We always planned on staying 'out' for 3 weeks...

Tri-State Exp. Looking to get back into driving

If I ever got back into expediting T-State would be my first choice, at least in a straight.

    Finally!!!

wow, that was pretty quick. How long was the owner with T-State?

    Finally!!!

you'll enjoy driving for T-State. I was with them for 3 yrs. in a straight. Would still be with them if my owner hadn't pulled his trucks over something I considered at the time as pretty trivial. For the most part, and you'll learn this quickly, the dispatchers do all they can to keep you...

Tri-State Exp. Looking to get back into driving

Don't quite understand all the questions about Tri-State if you've already been with the company. I would think you'd already know the in's and outs on the company or who to contact with your questions. I drove for an owner who was leased with T-State and I enjoyed every minute of it. They were...

Any info on A. Blair Enterprises

We drove a CV leased to Blair for a couple months. Company wasn't bad, just ended up with a total jerk for an owner. They were decent and respectful to us. O/O's will be running against their company vehicles. An O/O and a company driver sitting in the same area guess who's getting the load...

Married Couple Looking to get into the Expedite Business.

biggest advice............LISTEN to Davekc, ATeam, Team Caffee etc,.........they've all 'been there, done that'. Won't get any sounder advice than you will from them. Don't let expediting fool ya. Traveling, seeing the country and getting paid for it sounds great but expediting is WORK. You...

    All expenses paid driver pay?

I've always driven for from 35% to 40% of the load pay, driving a straight truck. Owner pays for everything concerning the truck. Fuel, maintenence, tolls, insurance, etc. I'm paid to drive the truck, make deliveries on time. I would take care of maintenence schedules, etc.........Keep track of...

Hello I am wondering which company to put a truck on with?

Aaronrocker, you remind me of a 'know it all' kid that was in the same orientation with. He knew it all.........Think he was a whopping 21 or 22 yrs. old with what he claimed 'all these years of experience in a big truck'. Couldn't even have a conversation with the kid, he knew it all, done it...

    Total newbie questions

If truck doesn't have a sleeper it can't be used is incorrect...........you can use it. But, if you simply need to show motel receipts as proof to where you slept, took your break, etc

Good point Jack. I wonder just how many people in expedited are trying to get by without health insurance. That's nothing more than a disaster waiting to happen........... and trust me, sooner or later it will happen!!!

    question for straight truck Drivers

MJ, your making it more complicated than it needs to be. 60/40 split, whoever is getting the 60% gets the FSC.......plain and simple, whether it be the owner or driver. But your right, if any owner wants the contracted driver to pay anything whatsoever towards maintenance,,,,,,,,,RUN AWAY...
