    Fuel Stats 2015 Transit

The following are my 2022 year end totals for a 2015 Ford Transit T-350, long and tall, 3.5L EcoBlaster, 3.31 rears. In October 2016, I put on larger tires (245/75 R16) and corrected my mileage by 8%. These are actual figures obtained by dividing total miles by total gallons. These numbers are...

How often should I replace engine air filter for Ford Transit 350?

I change the air filter on my Transit about every 80,000 miles. Replacing it every oil change is excessive. An air filter actually gets more efficient with age, up to a point. My last two Chevys I also did the 80,000 mile replacement. Both had an air restriction indicator but I never let it...

Removing passenger seat disables airbag system?

Keep it plugged into what? There was a discussion on the Ford Transit forum where someone suggested to cut the plug and wire in a resistor. No mention of how many ohms the the resistor should be. I just left the connector on. yeah, the airbag light stays on but some day it will burn out.

Thinking About Getting Back Into Vans... Most Reliable and Cost-Effective?

The Transit isn't available with the 6 speed transmission that I have. All new Transits come with a 10 speed, which I believe to be overkill. To quote davekc: "Why complicate the simple". For that reason alone I would not get another Transit. Also the cutaways and cab chassis are not...

Thinking About Getting Back Into Vans... Most Reliable and Cost-Effective?

I wanted the chrome front bumper/ halogen headlight package, cruise control, 3:65 rears and some other minor goodies that I don't recall. If I order a new vehicle I want what I want. The one thing I absolutely wouldn't give on was the rearend. Everything that came off that line had a 4:10...

Thinking About Getting Back Into Vans... Most Reliable and Cost-Effective?

It's difficult to compare the two. Obviously there is a huge difference in size. My original plan was to buy a Chevy cut-away with the 14' Unicel CW body. I couldn't get a chassis to the specs I wanted until the next model year so I ordered a 2015 Transit. The Chevy was cheaper to maintain...

Thinking About Getting Back Into Vans... Most Reliable and Cost-Effective?

Thanks Leo! 2015 was the first year for the full size Transit. A lot has changed since then. More engine options, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and other "essential" electronic safety devices that I find useless. So, my stats aren't as relevant. As a driving enthusiast...

Thinking About Getting Back Into Vans... Most Reliable and Cost-Effective?

Lowest cost of ownership and best reliability are not necessarily mutually inclusive. A vehicle's reliability often depends on the owner's reliability to have the vehicle's scheduled maintenance and preventive maintenance done in a timely fashion. That cost money. But that can also save more...

2 skids vs 3 skids, how often in van

As for 2 skids or 3 skids, it comes down to personal comfort vs money. I chose comfort.

2 skids vs 3 skids, how often in van

When I first had my Transit I gave my carrier 144" to try out the 3 skid theory. I can't say for certain that I have been passed over but when I was Canadian qualified I definitely skipped over. It all depends on the carrier. With a smaller carrier 3 skid capacity may be the way to go if you...
