I was just reiterating how the 16 rule can work against safety. Like Turtle said: "If it were all about safety, then the rule would be applied with common sense and intelligence in situations where both are called for."

The situation I mentioned in my post has more to do with being a "safety showpiece" than operating safely.

Panther doesn't have a mileage limit but they do have a 16 hour limit. After 16 hours "on duty" a 5 hour break is required. Sometimes 5 hour breaks are built into the transit time, sometimes the load swaps and sometimes the protect time is several hours later than the scheduled delivery time...

Below are 3 UPS tractors all from different manufacturers. The Mack has some gold pin-striping along the hood.

That has been a long time practice of UPS. From package cars to tractors, very little chrome or make and model placcards. Their Mack road tractors retain the bulldog hood ornament though.

The definitions of hotshotting and expediting have broadened and even become similar over the years. I often hear the term hotshot in relation to airfreight. This is usually freight that needs to be delivered as soon as it hits the ground which means it can't wait to be loaded on a route...

Why not post about the importance of researching your route, knowing your vehicle height and when in doubt, get out and visually check your clearance. Sure would eliminate cleaning debris off freight and repairing roof holes.

I don't know if this is the best way but it worked for me. I cut a 10" wide strip of ⅝" plywood and secured it to the sidewall ribs with Tek screws and bolts. I attached the E-Track to the plywood with a bucket load of wood screws. This setup is not for decking but works well securing drums...
