E450 Cube van vs Cargo van advice

I ran a 1997 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins 12' cube truck for a few years. I had the bed raised 4" so that it was 48" from the ground which is minimum for dock height. I also had jack stands put on the back to satisfy the "union" plants even though there was no way a fork lift was gonna drive on my...

    12 ft.Box Truck

Let me guess...it's a former Rent-A-Center truck that has about 4 rows of E-track and no cab pass-thru door? There seems to be a glut of them on the market at very reasonable prices. They look like nice trucks but I would definitely do away with the liftgate. You won't use it enough in...

    Load weight for Vans

That is incorrect. You have to be under 10,001 lbs GVWR and actual weight to get out of logging.

Thinking of signing on with a company

In regards to your dtv converter box question: I have had mine since late November and love it. We are pulling in more channels than we ever have. This is strictly with rabbit ears (no outside antenna). I live 35 miles southwest of Indianapolis and 50 miles east of Terre Haute. I pick up...

    question for straight truck Drivers

I get so tired of you bigots getting on this forum and directing all your questions to STRAIGHT truck drivers. Come on fellas, this is the 21st Century and their are plenty of gay truck drivers who have valid opinions and may even be able to answer your questions!!!!!

    finding your own loads

Exactly, that's where the stings come into play. They have been known to set-up "loads" on U-Ship and bid them out. Then when the "low-bidder" picks up the freight and they don't have MCC#'s they have them pulled over by DOT and busted for "illegal hauling". I read about these cases in the...

    finding your own loads

In regards to private citizens hauling things in their pickup for gas money....I was advised that a few southern states are setting up stings using Uship to catch illegal haulers without DOT or MCC authority. Just something to consider.

    I Have a question.

Some states have Class C CDL's. In Indiana I think they just call it a Chauffeur's license.

    I Have a question.

You do realize the 10,000 lb magic number is the gross vehicle weight RATING for the vehicle you are using. If your truck is rated 10,001# or higher and you are only hauling an envelope you better have DOT #'s and a DOT medical card. From the sound of your post it sounds like you believe you...

    securing cargo and equiptment needed

Thanks for the tip on the Pallet Truck Stop. I had never seen this device before. If I ever make it back on the road I will definitely invest in one of those. Sure beats load locking the thing in everytime.

    Extra Money Expediting

You might use caution with MidWest Expediting. Their website and contact info looks earily similar to All Types Expediting which does not have the best reputation according to other posts on this site.

    Cargo Van/ Sprinter

I run a 2002 GMC (Penske). Empty weight is 6800#. I average 11.5 mpg. My carrier pays 30 cents a mile more for cubes than they do vans. I haul alot of freight that could fit in a van but because it is called in as 3 skids. If they fail to give dimensions it automatically goes to a cube. I...

Would a 16ft to 20 Ft Cube van work Expediting????

A logbook and DOT medical card are required to operate an interstate CMV over 10K#. You don't actually need a CDL until over 26K#. In Indiana we have what's called a Chauffeur's License which is similar to some states Class C CDL. If you're going to log and have the DOT physical you may as...
