This volvo has got to be the best tractor I have ever driven. It is a 2011 model. It is really quiet,10 speed and averages 7.2 mpg pulling 45,000 pound paper loads. Has thermoking apu,2000 watt inverter. Overall I love it.
The problem with drivers paying for fuel is some owners don't care about mpg and if the truck need air filter, fuel filter etc they may drag it out longer decreasing mpg since they don't care how fuel efficient it is.
Glad they don't enforce that where I live. I sometimes take my whole truck and trailer and park in front of my house and I live in a tight subdivision.
Anywho congrats on taking the leap and keep us updated with you guys progress rymilburn.
Not totally agreeing with that. Orientation where I'm at now was small (8 people) and they made it very entertaining just to keep everyone's attention.
That said panthers orientation was very boring and the food sucked BUT at the same time I was there for a job and not food and entertainment...
I got transamerican through my company but unfortunately havent used it yet lol. But have been told by other drivers it is among the best company health plans.
Kyle also I forgot to mention check in to mesilla valley transportation out of las cruces nm. They run a lot of west coast but they do run all over. Plus they have awesome fuel bonus.
I started with prime. They had good and bad but get the exp and move on.
I drive for ozark and I love it but it is a company that expects drivers who don't need their hands held.
In your area also check out Gordon and if you want flatbed look at system transport. Both rated among top training...
Some things to consider though xiggi, unless you own the truck are you really going to make more than what I make? I mean the 40% is usually less cpm than what I get, plus inconsistent miles and then a 1099 and the only business write offs you get are per diem and anything you buy for the truck...
