    Attention: very extended warranty coverage

Hino is covering several different parts under warranty on many trucks. NOx sensors, def tank sensors, DPFs (and engine fuel injectors if they caused the DPF to fail) pm sensors and def injectors. Maybe turbos on the cabovers too. The dealer has to do an assessment and make a report for some of...

How do I keep people from leaving messages on my profile?

Clearly people want to communicate with me but my profile is not an appropriate place.

When I am typing, the cursor jumps around and creates word salad.

I will be typing out a novella about Hinos, and the cursor will move, without prompting, a few sentences away and my words will dump there instead. It is super annoying. This is the only website I visit where this happens, at least that I've noticed. I'm not ruling out a problem on my end. It...

    I've been absent lately.

The shop where I work caught on fire in November. A lousy Ford E-350 shuttle bus decided to spontaneously ignite in the middle of the night. The insurance people said that those things burst into flames all the time. How reassuring. Life is just now starting to return to normal.

    2011-2014 Hino burner maintenance

Every 150,000 miles, this warning will come up on the dash. This means it's time to do some maintenance. The parts replacement part of this can be accomplished by someone equipped with hand tools, a 27mm 12 pt socket, and a filter wrench. First, remove the right fender and expose the burner...

    How would you choose?

'I want to live': Doctors amputate all woman's limbs after car crash, electric shock I would have chosen differently.

Someone tried to weld an air compressor to the engine block.

I have no explanation for why. I did laugh my ass off, though. Sent from my XT1585 using EO Forums mobile app

Driveshaft phasing: no one knows what it is.

Including the people tasked to reinstall them. The two pieces of yellow tape are on the u-joints, and are supposed to line up. They're almost 90 degrees off, so the piece of tape on the right of the pic is nearly impossible to see. So, what's the big deal? U-joints let things run at...

    Fixing the rare broken mantle

On all of the 2011-2014 conventional Hinos, DPF heating is done with a burner system. This system has a few...eccentricities. One of the rarer things that happens is burner mantle breakage. Maybe 1-2 out of a hundred trucks with burner issues will have a broken mantle. I've personally...

Allow me to introduce another great mechanic, Hino123.

If you've been in this forum at all, you'll have noticed Hino123 responding to posts. We've spoken, and I'm excited to let you all know that this guy knows as least as much about Hinos as I do (probably more), and he's got a ton of experience working on them. Like myself, he likes the trucks...

So you're looking to buy a truck...

Wouldn't it make sense to take the truck to someone who is intimately familiar with that brand and model? I'm a mechanic. A customer showed up with a 2 year old truck that he'd just bought, and wanted us to check it out before it hit the road. I wish so much that he'd brought it to us...

I diagnosed one wrong, and I don't even feel bad about it.

2004-ish Isuzu FRR. Early common rail. Truck would run fine, then drop three cylinders. Code 0158, short to B+ on something something injector something. Instant limp mode, cut three cylinders off. Those three were on a common B+ leg. There was power at both branches of that leg, the grounds for...

    My Dad is dying.

And I got a call from an unlisted number this morning. The person was gleeful that dad was on his way to Hell, and gave me a stern warning that I'd suffer the same fate unless I repent. And people wonder why athiests always seem angry. Perhaps if they first remove the plank from their eye. I...
