    “Productivity,” as a generalized concept, is pretty broad. it can include all industries, products, workers--essentially, the whole of business. But taken as a word, its definition is extraordinarily simple: productivity is a measure of output per unit of input. As a driver, carrier, fleet owner, or however you’d define yourself in the expediting industry, it all comes down to one thing: keeping the freight moving.

    Last week, Sylectus released their always-informative overview of industry activity for the month of July. In our piece covering their June 2010 report, we noted the prediction that July would be even better than June.

    Not that is should come as a surprise, but Sylectus was right.

    There are some folks who believe that attitude, and specifically a positive attitude, affects a person's business life. To be sure, there are some who, well, don't. You've probably met people on both sides of the fence. Likewise, you probably have an opinion of them one way or another, as well.

    Last week, Sylectus released their monthly analysis and comparative figures for June 2010, and in keeping with the trends over the past year, volumes over June of 2009 show a considerable increase. In fact, June 2010, according to Sylectus, was the best June they’ve yet seen.

    This week, Sylectus released their monthly analysis and comparative figures for March 2010, and it should come as no surprise that this March's volumes significantly exceeded March 2009. This comes as no surprise because last March was, as Sylectus puts it, "One of the worst business months in recent history."
