On this day May 8, 1945, the biggest calamity ever to face mankind came to an end in Europe.

Let's take a moment to put aside our petty partisan bickering to remember those that paid the ultimate price and give thanks to the surviving members of the Greatest Generation for giving us this great country.

My dad and 8 uncles all served in WWII. The 9th uncle wasn't military but was one of the team leaders in the plant making B24 bombers so he served in his way too. All 8 survived and came home. The greatest generation, far better than what we're stuck with now.
