for the fedexcc o/o one way to make it right now when it is slow
is to trip lease, find a company that will trip lease and pay on time
and pay's a good rate or so .
number one you have to cover up the fedexcc signs on the truck
or take'm off on the box and on the door's put on mag with trip lease
company and there icc/dot number. also will need a contract for each
load or open end one and copy of there insure etc, and go out of service to do the load when you get down go back in service

i used to look down on people who trip lease as not being loyal to
company, but when a friend asked me to do a load though about it and
and asked about it and they said why haven't you done this sooner
it took me by surprise, and didn't feel so bad. when they said we would have you trip lease than to lose you

so i have found a company to trip lease with and who ever calls first
that's who i go to work for, than go out of service
and do the run

so far if i had not done this i would be hurting for dec
now it's not great but ok

I have thought many times of trip leasing. I have always heard doing it through FECC it was a real hassel. What is all involved? Curious ;-)

How do you handle the insurance on the truck? Would you
design a blank form contract and fax it for each trip.
I would like more info and copy of the form.

to trip lease you need to have in the truck a copy of
1 copy of insure policy of the company you are trip leasing to
2 copy of trip lease contract
3 cover all fedexcc signs and dot numbers
the company that you trip lease for will fax or give you all the
numbers you need and you make up signs you need for the truck
to run that load, go out of service and when you are done
with load go back in service where ever

as fedexcc is not or will not be responable for anything during
that time

you will have to decide to lose that 1/2 % and take signs off the
box or get large sheet of sheet metal and drill holes to put wing
nuts and bolt and fasten to cover signs up

Has anyone thought about (or is doing this) have your own authority, contact with all the expediting companies when your empty and load for whoever calls with a decent load but since you have your own authority and insurance, require 90% of the revenue? Heck thats 10% free and clear for dispatching. I haven't been in this game very long so you pro's out there should comment on this. Probably wishfull thinking though.

After delivery of my out-bound load, I fax my location and equipment type to numerous companys (expedite and otherwise). If they need equipment in that area, they WILL call you. I also have accumulated
a fairly lengthy list of manufacturers and regional trucking companys
over the years, that I contact when i'm in their area. You never know what will come up. Revenue is based on your ability to negotiate. I don't recommend this for the faint-at heart, or, those that like their TV. Also, if you don't like to use the telephone or have the energy to make lots of contacts - it ain't for you!!! NOW is the time to start putting your list together if you want to be on your own. It can be quite rewarding, and, sure beats setting at a truck stop groveling for a load with four other trucks from the same company.:)

You don't have to cover the signs on the box only the ones on the door. The sign on the box is advertisement, the one on the door is a DOT requirement.
