I am looking into loading linux onto my laptop and I'm checking to see if anybody knows if they have a linux version or if one of the emulators (like wine, etc) can run it?

Well two issues,
One is you can try WINE but it may not work for a lot of reasons. A solution would be to use Virtualbox (or one of the others) and run Windows under that.
BUT if you go any which way, be mindful that your scanner has to be compatible with your version of Linux - I lost the use of my scanners (older ones) when I upgraded my Linux OS.
The first two links are compatibility sites while the last is a list of compatibility sites.
