I have been thinking, as dangerous as that is, about my daddy's daddy and how he raised eight kids back in the 60s and 70s. See Granpaw Joe worked as an appliance repairman for Sears, and my Granny took care of the house as a housewife. They didn't struggle either. They didn't have everything, but they didn't do without. Now I have just my wife and myself to take care of, and I'm bringing in alot more than Grandpaw Joe did I'm sure, and it's not easy. What's happened?
He did this without governement assitance. No welfare, food stamps, or any of that. He worked his one job, and repaired a few things for people he knew on the side. At one point in the 70s he even purchased a small place in the hills outside of Hot Springs,AR. It was a place to go and stay and visit Granny's kin.
The only help he had was when their home burned to the ground. Friends in the small community where they lived took in my dad and his siblings and others helped my Grandpaw Joe rebuild the house. It would be a shock to see that today. Everyone would be sitting back waiting on the governement to do something. What's happened?
