Some time ago there was a flurry of posts about Thompson Emergency.The following classified ad, from The Toronto Sun of yesterday, may help to clarify the discussion. Quote " Thompson Emergency is looking for owner operators with 5 ton dock level trucks, for local and highway,pays 96 cents per mile to $1.39 per mile. $ 1500.00 Weekend bonus, paid insurance(for vehicle) paid health benefits, paid tolls,paid empty miles,paid vaction pay (4% of gross yearly earnings) . If you don't own a truck, we will finance you(with acceptable credit) End of quote.
The conversion of the mileage rates from Canadian dollars to US dollars, at a rate of 44% equals 54 cents per mile to 78 cents per mile for a d unit. But take into consideration the benefits provided , company paid insurance, and vacation pay. The last point is that as far as I know, Thompson has only Canadian based O/Os.
