This Is What I See....

So much discussion today and now we have people actually going back and doing a count of their posts in specific threads and seeing a need to defend themselves.

One person trying to explain to another why they shouldn't post as often as they do or about certain subjects (all clean I might add)...putting that person on the defense as well.

IMHO....this is nothing but cyber-bullying crap. It's happened in the soapbox and now it's happening in other forums.

Soapbox....One group of members makes constant attempts to make others appear or feel stupid, either because of their beliefs or what they've said or how they've posted it.....or even who they've linked a story to or quoted. What the hell happened to the on/off button?? Isn't it like the radio?? I mean, some on here have admitted to passing posts by because of the color of the fonts used.....how hard can this be for everyone else....to just ignore someone that irritates you instead of trying to control the dialog??

Now...some of these same members, joined by others, have decided to bring the same bullying tactics to the other forums. What a bunch of crap this all is. If this forum isn't 100% politically correct enough for you folks then why not just refuse to read the threads that you know may be dominated by someone that irritates you?? Maybe you're just days away from "fundamentally changing" the whole house??

Last time I checked, everyone that's doing the complaining pays ZERO of the bills here. I don't think the membership should expect to make the rules so why doesn't everyone just take a chill pill and let the owner state how things will be??

He stated just the other day..one thing he has learned over the years that trying to direct a conversation is useless...

"Instructed" is the key word.....when anyone, owner, admin, or membership works so hard to control the input, you end up with ghost town. Some aren't satisfied to merely make the rules and see that the membership sticks by them.....tinkeritis loses every time.

We had a good thing going...until we were instructed from the owner to "guide" the conversation...and it all fell apart....like this place will do if we divide the membership and get them to take sides....

To be honest, I think that one part of the membership here would be more than happy to see those of us who refuse to be pc hit the road. It's that control thing......they can't help themselves.

But you should try to remember that several Chattiey type threads were started. But the biggest chatters refused to use them. why?

And that would be a shame.
From my very first time on this site ( I enjoy the vast knowledge base here so I keep coming back) I have been turned off by members and moderators berating someone for stating something off topic.
While I understand a thread can go haywire, that is no reason to impose censoring or threats of excommunication.
Okay, dont go down the vulgar road or porno road as why it is needed.
No matter how hard you try, jerks will try to be, well, jerks.
Too many worrying "their meaning" isnt understood.
Hey this is truck driving not brain surgery.
If side topics come up, BE GRACIOUS, hey, try saying "YOU ARE ONTO SOMETHING, WHY DONT YOU START A THREAD " not the usual, "WHY AM I SEEING THIS IN THIS THREAD"
Sheeeesh.

Also other than a few posts by one or two people this topic has been discussed politely. I have not heard what I consider a good reason other than I want to or the place will be a ghost town. It wasn't a ghost town when people kept the chat to a reasonable level, and that is all thats being requested.

Also there has not been a request by anyone to involve the Moderators, or the owner of the site. At least on my part I'm asking that people exercise common sense and courtesy. The only binding said in those threads was that if the majority said they liked it as it is I would never mention it again.

I would like to see this board come together more instead of bashing each other or complaining about little things or calling someone out.This time and day we need each other and need to stick together in this crazy life style/career we call expediting. If we dont have each others back out there who will? Rely on a fellow driver to get or give good info and be respectful to one another. We are here to do our job along with our other brother and sister expediters and truckers. When I came to this website lurking tons of info was being posted on products, truck specific threads with lots of great info, sleeper setups etc. Great stuff coming and going. Now I dont see it. Its dropped alot . I would like to see some new members come on board and maybe give it a fresh start back to being an even better message board.

Threads: I admit I myself have gone off topic a little . I bet everyone else here has as well. I mean some I think is ok but not a total 180 from the thread topic like alot of threads have gone. I see it ok to ask a side question or 2 along the lines of the original topic. But it should be up to everyone here that posts to monitor their extra chat that doesn't have to do with that particular subject. If you have a problem with a specific person PM them. Wanna talk about whats going on in baseball start a new thread if the original topic doesn't pertain to the subject you wanna talk about.

I don't see it either. I don't think the chatter keeps people away, but I do think that there is at least a possibility that when a thread becomes so side tracked with 30 posts out of 35 of nonsense that it might discourage some newer members from posting in the thread.

I'm a proud member of the great seven, I like this site the way it is and with my adhd or whatever you call it it suits me just fine, quit trying to change a good thing. Also, I agree with DD:D

Ohh and Ken, we are the Magnificent 7 not the great 7 :p

With all due respect Dakota, (that's the equivalent of using smilies), you could get the HE double hockey sticks out and start your own forum devoted to humor topics that get beyond beat to death.

Now, of course, I didn't mean that. I just thought if Dakota saw that kind of statement directed at him, he might see how rude and stupid it is to type something like that.

So, I ask, are those of us who grow weary of the inane chatter the problem? Or, is the small group of chatters that think that kind of domination is good for the forum?
