TurkeyHawk
Seasoned Expediter
I want to thank all of you, especially those that took time to respond to my post last week 'One Week Is All You Have'
I had been visiting this site as well as other expedited sites and readings since the fall of 2007, I had left the carrier I had been with for 3 years March 17th and thought my next move should be expedited with my tractor and - their expedited trailer.
After much consideration, scouring this site with current and much older postings I have made my decision.
Based on the state of this current economy in the USA, plus the fact I would be doing this solo to start, at this point in time I have decided to wait on getting into expedited.
I have been accepted to lease on with what I consider as good a freight company available, family owned with fleet of around 400 trucks, they are 100% owner operator based in Denver, CO
I will be running in almost all states, but not east of Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia (halelujiah NO East Coast@!)
Paid the same for loaded and empty plus incentive pay added on for saftey performance, the FSC is also loaded and empty, and plenty of miles hauling sailboat fuel also paid, I will be hauling for customers like Catapillar, Dish Network, UPS, Furniture Row, etc
No qualcomm expense, no escrow, and some other cool financial incentives will make this work for me.
I will continue to monitor what is going on here and hope it is OK with you all that I might stay on as a member, this will help while I continue to keep track of how you are all doing and keep track of where the expedited freight business in a t/t is doing.
I feel my time will come, and when it does I want to be educated more than I feel I am now, I am sure most of what I will learn will be once I get into the business you have all been in, experience is usually the best teacher.
All your experiences have been exceptionally valuable in my learning process, and in my final decision making.
I wish you all the very best and hope great rewards are in store for those of you that take what you do in serious fashion.
I will be out there running with you all, if and when we cross paths I will be the one that approachs and asks if I could spare a few minutes of your time in hopes my learning curve continues to better my decision next time I think I might be ready to Expedite with the best of you.
BEST OF LUCK & STAY SAFE!!!!
