Can anyone tell me about the Sterling brand of trucks? I am looking at a Sterling Acterra 960 Express Cruiser straight truck. I'm not familiar at all with Sterling. This one has the Mercedes-Benz MBE900/300HP engine,Allison 6Speed Automatic tranny. Is this a class 8 truck?

That is a class 7 truck. I am in one now. If I understand correctly there are some on the way with the Cat C9 engine yielding about 335hp and around 1000tq. If I were buying one today it would be with the Cat engine. It is a good truck.
I presume you are dealing with Jon Mosier at FL Knoxville. He is a stand up guy. You can't do better than him to work with.
If you get the truck and have any notion of having service other than at the dealer then be sure to buy a set of filters and carry with you. Some places don't have the filters for the Mercedes engine. Also buy at least one oil drain plug and carry with you.
Since 1/1 I have gotten 8.9 mpg and that includes what my ProHeat has used. I'd also suggest you look at APU options other than ProHeat. Read the forum for stories about it. Good luck.
