Its that time of year again..
In fact my favorite day of the year when the Holley Fire dept. holds their yearly truck & equipment fund raiser. Yep there will be a few less squirrels by the end of the day and the best part is the tree hugging PETA nuts will be here too. Or at least the die hard ones willing to be bussed in or make the pilgrimage from other locations. The good is they will be totally besides themselves, whining boo hoo, each time a tree rat buys it. Lighting vidual candles will be useless as the wind speeds will likely prohibit it, wind speeds expected to be between 30 - 50 mph and were expecting A wintery mix of wet snow, rain, and snow possibly all three conditions. Yeah the weather is expected to totally suck. Singing give peace a chance might be difficult as well. I might just stop by the High school and have some fun at their expense........ On second thought,maybe I should stay home Ill be the one that gets in trouble as I'll likely voice my opinion to somebody's face and make them cry.
Unfortunately the protesters once again pose a potential risk and the school play and weekend events have been cancelled due to threats of retaliation from protesters.-Needless to say 99% of the local population has no problems with the event and the bleeding heart 1% needs to either get over it or write a hefty check.
At almost 1 million dollars for the new truck and rural volunteer fire departments don't get but a small share of the property taxes paid is enough to make Detroit F.D.s funding look like a gold mine. 100% of the village and at least 25 miles radius benefits from the mutual aid from a needed fire truck. Including SUNY Brockport Collage. B.T.W.
Anyway, Ill keep everyone posted on the success of Squirrel Slam 2014.
