Something for the AMERICAN job hunter to consider.

Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6am. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA). After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day, Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in.....AMERICA.....

I think one of the biggest myths of this great country of our's is that everyone must be this "employee type" and must have this ever elusive perfect job. On the other hand, I am a proponent to ones "pulling His/Her self up by Her/His own bootstraps. I do not fear foreign competiton one bit and I buy the best I can afford and usually American if it is the best quality. It appears there are alot of Walmart customers, and there are because Walmart offers prices alot of people like. Consequently, alot of merchadise from the countries you mention are purchased right here in the good ole USA. At the same time, Walmart provides a tremendous amount of jobs. What I fear and despise is Americans selling other Americans down the pike through corporate greed, I.E. Enron, WorldCom, Quest, Tyco, HealthSouth, etc.,etc.,etc. Making and keeping this country successful, and prosperous involves 2 things----wishing and helping your neighbor to be prosperous and wanting the same type of freedom for those same neighbors as you wish for yourself. You do this by providing a good educational system whether vocational or university, and making sure children have food in their bellies. In this same arena, you teach that freedom brings on a tremendous amount of responsibility to protect the freedom of the whole of the nation. We forget this........just because we have freedom of speech does not mean we use trash talk in the presence of little ole church ladies. You have freedom of choice-------------USE IT!
