just read dhalls thread about fling j no longer offering free showers to gas users. this may or may not come true. either way I am starting this thread to gather information on any known places that offer totally free showers or free with a purchase of 20 gallons or less of GASOLENE. later thread will include deisel. again please only respond with gasolene purchases or totally free. please help out each other on this..

You can talk to the driver at the Knoxville J yourself.

It is definitely true at that location.

And I stopped and fueled at two independently owned Flying J's coming through Washington so I could get a shower in Portland. Pulled into that J which is still listed on their handbook for travel centers and it is now a Love's...so no shower for me.

Then I get a run up to Seattle and figured I would stop in Tacoma at a J that is also listed in their travel guide and it too is now a Love's. Again, no shower for me.

Thank you so very much Pilot for your concerns toward your loyal and long time customers. NOT!

Pilots have never offered showers on their cards for vanners and as far as I know neither has loves. The J still does and from what I have heard will continue to do so. If they deem it is a profit center for them they will probably continue it if they decide it isn't I would expect them to stop it. That is called business and is why it is important that for even the smallest purchases at the J people get their cards scanned. As I said in the other thread the Knoxville J is supposedly changing to a pilot so going with pilots policy they would not have showers. It seems like unfounded rumors are beginning to fly.

I personally have not been and will never be a loyal or even semi frequent customer of pilots mostly because of the disgusting restrooms and showers a large number of them have. Until J stops giving showers for smaller fuel purchases that is who will get my business. When people write pilot[flying j be sure to keep it professional and business like. The wrong kind of communication can do as much harm as good.

TravelCenters is relaunching their ExpediteKing at the Expo - they have taken the feedback of many expediters and are now offering a much better program.

Their web site isn't updated with any changes yet. Hopefully they haven't just made a few changes but totally revamped the program. I sure hope they dropped any type of food purchase requirement that alone would make me say no mas. I will keep my fingers crossed.

I think MissKat means the Piliot on I 80 at Wendover NV next to the Peppermill Casino , but it been years since I last stopped there I think the showers are actually run by the Casino that has a building in the parking lot next to the Pilot and also has a lounge for drivers in that same building too but must show a CDL to get in and use the showers. My memory might be wrong with my old age but that s what I remember. I dont remember a Peppermill in Wimimucca ?

Part of the bankruptcy agreement required Flying J to sell off 10 locations to Love's.

Pilot has been guiding this whole scenario and as they knew of the sell off to Love's and that they were acquiring the remaining J's it would have been proactive on their part to inform drivers at the existing J's of the change at other locations over to Love's.

They post everything else on the doors to these locations.

I just think it to be very poorly handled.

I really don't think when you are talking a 100 million dollar or so buyout...the shower program a select locations was even considered...think of the big picture....for a few hundred vans that is a lot to ask....

what happens, will happen...with or without us...and like always, us van drivers will make do with what is is offered...

Scotty's in Wilton, NY doesn't have a free shower for gas purchses, but it's only $5 or $6 to pay for a shower full price and their showers are very clean.

Er.. just wanted to point out that it seems they cater to commercial vehicle operators with the 'free' showers but isn't the point that vans and sprinters not commercial vehicles?

Exactly Greg..whatever bread crumbs we get, we should be thankful for...TS's owe us nothing...

It is more than a few hundred vans.

If enough folks voice their concerns it may have an effect on they thinking.

Quite possibly, management (i.e. the bean counters) simply may not have consider the total number of gas powered vehicles that are required to operate with an MC number.
