Recently, I received a letter from "Sirius Satillite Radio", telling me that I have won a free Satillite Radio Receiver. This includes free installation and one year's subscription, from having registered at their booth during the Louisville Truck Show.
This thrills me because I never win anything and because I was really interested in their booth. The concept of listening all night while driving, without the constant fade-out, is pretty good stuff.
The letter from Chuck Chapman, SVP OEM Marketing, says in part, "..that's right, later this year you'll be able to tune into 100 channels of CD-quality programming from anywhere in America. There will be 50 channels of commercial free, crystal clear music from stars like Sting, McLyte, Randy Travis and Grandmaster Flash...get another 50 channels of news, sports and entertainment from today's hottest producers like Speedvision, NPR, Blooming, Outdoor Life, The Discovery Channel and The Weather Channel, just to name a few. We'll even an entire channel dedicated to Trucker's Rig Radio, 24 hours/day, 7 Days/ week coast to coast."
It also mentioned a website at WWW.Sirusradio.com. I've been telling many of our driver friends about my good fortune and they've come up with some pretty good questions. So I called and talked with Walter Kerner, Director of Marketing, and he was very informative and positive.
If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll post more of what I've learned of Sirius Radio, or you can visit their website.

Congrats scooter! Lucky dog! I want one of those satellite radios in the worst way and plan to get one in the future.

There are two different companies that are going to be doing the same thing. The other (I think the name is right) is XM radio. It will be almost exactly like the one you are getting and I have heard you will able to get content from both companies because they are working together. XM radio will also have a truckers channel called "Open Road radio" The hosts will be Bill Mack (aka the "Midnight cowboy" on WBAP in Dallas) and the truckin Bozo out of Cincinnati. They will each have an 6 hour live show and then both shows will be repeated within the 24 hour day. It will be great to tune to one station in California and listen to it all the way to the east coast! I just hope they will add my favorite talk radio shows from AM.

Now if I could just get a load and leave this truckstop.....lol
