After enjoying smoking cigarettes for 35+ years, I quit smoking in August of 1992 after the unpleasant experience of two heart attacks. If I had saved the money I spent on a 2 pkg a day habit, (an estimated $3.50 pkg avg) and invested that money at 4% interest, my investment, to date, would have yielded $46,735.83.

Starting January 1, 2007, a two pack a day person, spending an avg of $5 per pack, who quits smoking for 5 years, could have an investment yield of $19,769.58. Not a bad down payment on the next truck.
