New rules for getting on bases

As of today five state DL's won't be accepted to get on bases. This is from Fox News web site. So carry your passport

Department bases no longer will accept driver’s licenses from five states as proof of ID -- a consequence of the implementation of a controversial post-9/11 law.

The decision, which affects residents of Minnesota, Illinois, Missouri, New Mexico and Washington, was announced Wednesday. Residents from those five states, going forward, will need another form of ID such as a passport to enter.

Minnesota is lagging behind on the enhanced drivers license thing. I carry my passport and birth certificate with me. If my driver's license and those other forms of ID won't get me on base then I'll just lean into the pitch. Hey, I'm a team player. Whatever it takes!

So far we have not had an problems... Funny part is that other forms beside Passport are now being accepted and we have found that on a few bases we have been given extended passes. Odd how things work out.

We have many forms of identification and I think our backgrounds are being worn out by background checks...

being a non citizen ....I've had encounters where I was supposed to be a citizen....but somehow between broker and carrier that info wasn't passed along....however....I've never had a shipment refused because of it...I've had to be escorted or if the package was like under 100lbs they'd come to the gate in their golf cart....

Linda, I know you and others haven't had problems before yesterday, but this took affect on Jan 21 of this year.

Yes, there are other forms of ID you can use other then a passport and they are ID's issued to government employees and retired military.

Like my OP says it only affects those DL's from those five states no others.

Does anyone that has DL's from those five states want to take a chance of getting to a base or nuke plant being refused entrance because they didn't carry their passport or other form of ID.

Some nuke plants shipping and receiving is outside of the security zones. That is why you can pick up.

Not always, beachbum. One particular plant I've been to had gates and security boots, but the gates were open and no security. I went in and it took me forever to find the shipping/receiving, driving around all over the place. When I finally found the place, went in but nobody there.

I thought this thread was going to be about the new rules for dating. And how to get on first base.
