Maybe it works like a PowerMat? I used to have 2 of them. One on my office desk and one in my Tahoe. I had it plugged up to a small inverter. I was in and out of my office so much I worried about wearing out the charger plug. They weren't cheap, at about $50 each, but they were super convenient.
