You can easily tag another EO member in a post by just adding the ""@" symbol, then type their username.

When you see their name - click on it with your mouse and it will be added and they'll see it in their ALERT BOX.

For example: @Turtle

Several, one is to call your attention that I mentioned @Ragman

It's a common feature in Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Linkedin etc.

In your preferences, under Alert Preferences, if you have "Tags you in a message" checked (it's checked by default), you'll get an alert whenever someone tags you in a post. It's a way to call someone's attention to a post like, "Maybe @Ragman will chime in." When you type the @ symbol, don't put a space in between it and the beginning of the name. As you begin typing the name (usually after the third letter, as in @rag), a list of potential matches will pop up. Select one from the list to make sure you get the spelling right.
  • A new line, space or special character must be before the @ or the system will assume it's an email address and will not create the tag.
  • NO SPACE between the @ and the username.
  • Multiple tags must be separated by a new line, space or special character or they will not render properly. Since usernames cannot contain commas or apostrophes, adding these in your post immediately after tagging a username will not negatively affect the end result.
