Veteran Expediter
Good afternoon everyone.
Looks like the wife and I will be taking yet another look at entering the expediting world. This marks the third serious look we have taken. (Read about our previous thoughts here and here - caution, will take some time - I love to write)
This time there is more of a sense of urgency that was lacking previously. Looks like we may both be in danger of loosing our cushy, fat-cat, only work nine months a year jobs (loads of sarcasm there) in education for the up-coming year.
We really did take serious looks both times. There were some loose ends that we just couldn't tie up at the time (kids and pets at home, older family members, property), but those seemed to have resolved themselves. Plus the prospect of loosing not one but two incomes is not pleasant.
And this really isn't a desperation move either. I don't think we would have too much trouble replacing our jobs, but that option would almost definitely require a relocation. We are both in our mid 40's, so a change in lifestyle might just be the thing the doctor ordered.
I'm not going to write a novel this time, but rather just wanted to get reacquainted with some of you that were kind enough to offer advice before. And, yes we are pre-registered to attend the Expo in July. Missed last years, but did attend the one in 2009. What a hoot!
I really haven't been following the forum very much, really since early last year. Looks like some things have changed in the industry. And I am sure some things never change.
We would most likely be looking to get into a "C" or "D", driving team for an owner (although there is the remote possibility of outright purchase of a good used truck after six-months or a year) Time will tell...
Anyway, thanks again! Looking forward to participating here a little more this time. (Might even break 100 in the post count!)
