Late night TV, who cares?

Ever wonder what some network execs are thinking?

NBC has cut O'Brian loose to get Leno back in the late night slot at the same time thinking that they will recapture the audience for their 10 to 11 slot they insulted when they played the Leno shuffle to get him his "own show". They lost to the likes of CBS and ABC within demographics that should have stayed but they may have a hard time getting them back.

But the joke is on NBC, seeing that they expected a large number of Tonight Show people to follow Leno, it didn't work out for them and now it cost them millions more than the $45m that they gave O'Brian and his staff to exit stage right.

Leno bombed in that 10 to 11 time slot which was amazing in itself but it happened not because of NBC's inability to predict that the audience is in love with Leno but rather their inability to understand that Leno lacks the talent that should have held his own with his own show outside the Tonight Show spot light and this may be caused by the fact he didn't come up the ranks like O'Brian and others who have their own shows.

Hey NBC, let's try something new - get someone else for the Tonight Show and drop SNL.
