Cargo Van Insurance cost.

I'm new to the cargo van area.
My question is how much is insurance cost around?
What kind of coverage will I need.
2000 miles radius from my home.
Do I need a Dot number?
Do I need to get My own authority
I'm being told it will run me about
$10 or $12 grand a year from CIS.
I have a perfect driving record.
No accidents or tickets.
Class A license from 1995 till 2016
I have a 2017 Dodge promaster hightop 2500.
Under 10,000 lbs
Thanks

Wow, bought the van before you found out what it costs to run it.

Anyway, about the insurance. Your state of residence has more to do with the rate than your driving record. Do you live in NJ?

There's lots of info on this topic, you just need to search.

If you already got a quote from CIS, what is the question exactly? Is it accurate? How can it be?

Yes, that rate is possible ...
Do some research.

Well I should say I'm semi retired.
As for the new van I buy a new van every 3 years.
Doing the hauling part will be only to cover my insurance and travel.
I don't need to do it but I rather make some extra money hauling then take it out of my pocket..
Besides, I miss driving OTR..
So I thank everyone for the info

The insurance rates will also vary on how far you plan to travel away from your home base. Progressive quoted me around 4500 yr. (If you pay in full), if you break it up monthly payments it went up to 5400 yr.
You just need to call around.

In regards to obtaining your DOT and MC that would be required if you're going to go into business for yourself. If you're doing in a semi retired standpoint to just get out periodically. I'd lease on under someone else's authority, and your insurance will be a lot less money. Good luck!

Lets me try to understand ... you joined EO yesterday .. you bought a van before researching all business costs and requirements ... and now telling current EO members what to do (or go) .. good luck with getting answers from other members .. there is a Newbie section on this Forum that will answer almost all your ??? ... Read it .... now Read it again ...
Also how many years you drove Semi means nothing to most of us ... This is an Expediting Forum .. not LTL trucking .
Please leave your Big Truck ,, CB trash talking at the Door .. otherwise your time on this Forum will be short lived ... just my opinion

Just because you were a door swinging steering wheel holder doesn't make you better than any of us...you are asking for assistance yet haven't researched this niche at all, insult experienced and normally helpful drivers and expect help? Many of us spent 20 or more years in tractor trailer and have also put the years in here. We also see the same questions asked every other day, yet instead of asking it again no one takes the time to READ the forums. Blowhards like you is what makes real professionals embarrassed to be a driver. Here is my advice...READ THE DAMN FORUM, then read it again until you understand more than every 3rd word. Then, MAYBE ask again. By then we may have the patience to answer that same dumb question that has been asked already 43 times this week.
