Inexcusable murder

No, there's no excuse for a murder however when a criminal alien previously deported multiple times murders a citizen there should be multiple people charged from the alien who should be executed to those who released him in the first place to those bending over backward to placate and promote said criminal aliens with amnesty, welfare and other programs.

Inexcusable about sums it up. Just asking for trouble having sanctuary cities and soft policies of enforcement. Unfortunately, more to come. Very sad.

They're here and live among us. Although I'm not a Trump fan, I'll give him credit for bringing up this very non-PC undeniable truth: Mexican criminals enjoy sanctuary in the USA and we call them "Dream Catchers"

Trump is getting slammed from a lot of people about his comments. He doesn't have many political allies, and of course the media is hounding republicans to denounce his statements.
There is a lot of truth in his comments, although his generalizations opened him up for wrath and criticism.
And then you have people conflate his statements to be racist, to be erroneously talking about LEGAL immigrants and ALL Mexicans.
CNN did a segment on Trump's statements a couple days ago.
The reporter broke down each of his sentences and 'fact checked' it, although some of his sources were from as early a 2008 and a left leaning Politifact 2010 piece.(used data from six years ago or more) The influx of illegal immigrants has increased substantially since then, as well as a deterioration of enforcement.
He also interviewed a women from a Fusion article that Trump referenced, who inexplicably omitted any mention of migrants doing any raping when she spoke on camera, yet it's referenced in her own article TWICE. [ bold emphasis and parentheses added below ]
Here:
Women and girl migrants, especially those without legal status traveling in remote areas or on trains, are at heightened risk of sexual violence at the hands of criminal gangs, people traffickers, other migrants.
And here:
Perpetrators (of sexual assault) can be coyotes, other migrants, bandits, or even government authorities.

The Dream Act requires that any immigrant applying for conditional residency meet the following conditions"

Prove he/she entered before the age of 16, and resided continuously in the US for 5 or more years.
Have a high school diploma, or GED.
Be of "good moral character".
Pass criminal and background checks.

If conditional residency is to advance to permanent residency, the following additional requirements must be met:

2 years of higher learning or military service. If military, must have an honorable discharge.
Further background and criminal checks.
Continued "good moral character".

Which is not to say there are no Mexican criminals in the US, but anyone suggesting they are "Dreamcatchers" is simply [and as usual] ignorant of the facts.
As far as the criminals go, how would you deal with them? Is there a good solution?

I hope nobody is naive enough to believe the government, the ones doing such a great job running healthcare, welfare, education and every other failing department, is properly running and vetting the dream department. As far as the criminals, make it a capital offense for any felony committed by any criminal alien. The entire criminal alien population will know within days if not hours. The world of criminal aliens in the making will know before they get here. If and when they commit a felony and are convicted with confirmed (meaning independent testing at 2 labs with identical results) DNA evidence execute them. It isn't a complex situation or solution unless it's fed into the wrong computer with defective wiring and bad chips.

It should be pretty clear. It's not brain science or rocket surgery.

Rather than just start killing illegal aliens, seems simpler just to secure the border in the first place. That won't make some as giddy as they'd like, but it seems like a better solution to the problem.

Of course the border should be secure. More secure against intruders than the East German border against escapees. That's a given. As far as illegal aliens, they should be DNA tagged and deported with the knowledge that entering the nation again illegally in the future is a capital offense should they be so brazen. It's only the properly convicted felons that should be executed.

I've long said that we need to secure our borders, or they're pointless. That said, once someone is here, it's a tough problem, because the solutions are both expensive and ineffective. [The idea of capital punishment for the crime of wanting a better life is the product of a sick mind, IMO]. Ship them home? Waste of money, when they just come back. It's even tougher when the bring kids - how do we blame kids for escaping poverty however they can?
One other thing: anchor babies is a concept we need to change, because it just invites abuse.

I don't want to derail this thread, but I have some great examples of how the government can screw things up [like welfare] - in the hands of those who are blinded by ideology, rather than guided by fact.

Can't change anchor babies. They are US citizens, real live natural born citizens. They are eligible to become President whereas naturalized citizens aren't. See the 14th amendment. So as you say cheri the only answer is to lock down our borders.

We can't renege on those anchor babies already born, but why can't we eliminate the incentive for the future? What good is being sovereign if we can't change the laws that don't work for us anymore?

There isn't enough political courage to fix it. Merely bringing up 'clarifying' the 14th amendment regarding babies born from illegal immigrants, will deem a politician a heartless extremist or something.

I'd call such a politician a pragmatic one: we can't afford to support everyone who wants to be here. We need to take care of our own first, and then do what we can about other countries' problems. Anchor babies just invite women to cross the border illegally, solely to give birth here, and it has to stop. Not granting automatic citizenship as a reward will put the brakes on the practice, while we get our immigration policies in order. And secure the border!

The 14th Amendment was never intended to include anchor babies.
Correct. Anchor babies is an invention of the Immigration and Naturalization Service, and the 1965 Immigration Act, which allows the anchor baby to pull the illegal alien mother, and a whole host of other relatives, into permanent resident status.

The US did not limit immigration in any way in 1868 when the 14th Amendment was ratified. There was, quite literally, no such thing as an illegal alien back then, so the issue of children born to those here in violation of the law was not even a thing. The notion of granting automatic citizenship to children of illegal alien mothers is a recent and totally inadvertent and unforseen consequences of the amendment and the Reconstructionist period in which it was ratified.

Post Civil War reforms concentrated on injustices to blacks, and the 14th Amendment was ratified to protect the native-born blacks who's rights were being denied as recently-freed slaves. The amendment was written specifically to prevent any state from denying citizenship to any black born in the US. As there was no immigration policy at the time, there was no need to address immigration in the amendment.

If you address the cause (secure the border), the symptom (anchor babies) goes away.

I'd call such a politician a pragmatic one: we can't afford to support everyone who wants to be here.
That includes parents who drag their children here illegally, including those who sit at the border with tear-filled puppy dog eyes awaiting to be deported. Because, we can't afford to support everyone who wants to be here. We can't even afford to support those who are already here.
